HOW TO: Set up a Facebook page and rock it

1. Visit the Facebook Page Creator and set up your new Facebook page.

2. Get a unique Facebook URL for your page by going here. Select your Business Page (not your own Profile) from the drop down. Make sure you get the spelling right, you cant change the URL.

3. Facebook has tons of apps in the Facebook app directory that you can include on your page.

4. Add the Like button to your website and get attendees to follow you on Facebook. Its super easy to install. You can get the tiny code snippet here. When someone clicks on the Like button, a link back to your site will be added onto the user’s profile and into their friend’s news feed.

5. Let people add photos, tag, add videos and comment on your posts and posts made by other people. Throttling it will kill off the chance of building a community. You might get some spam but for the small effort of tidying that up, its worth creating a special network and letting everyone get involved.

6. Facebook pages are listed by search engines like Google, so its always smart to include relevant keywords to improve your visibility. The most clicked updates on Facebook pages are those with photos, in 2nd place is video, then plain text is 3rd. A lot of major brands are now displaying their Facebook URL instead of their own website in adverts. A good example has been Coke - www.facebook.com/cocacola instead of coca-cola.com. Fish where the fish are!
